Proverbs

Proverbs 22:6

Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

I know this is the way it should turn out? and I seriously am not doubting the bible BUT what about all these REALLY good people who just have REALLY bad kids....

I thankfully (praise the lord) do not have bad children...I have normal children who do normal stupid teenager stuff that we have all done at one time or another....

I was raised in church.....My parents did EVERYTHING they could think of...and I still had my wild child days...about 3 years worth....

  1. I completely agree. My kids are four and four months and I am hoping that I can raise them to be good people. I do my best to instill lgood values in them. I hope it is enough.

  2. Sin messes the theory up! lol.
However, they still have the message within them if you teach it to them. But they do have free will and must choose. I think that is why God said "Remember they creator in thy youth". HE knew the wild oat sewing would occur. I think most of us had wild oats to sew and mine were even more b/c I had a preacher as a father and I didn't like being told what to do. So I have always had a rebellious streak to this day. But....I always come back God so the seed they planted is still there and it's my choice to allow it to grow. This world is so evil. I know what you mean though. Someone yesterday asked me why good people have to get cancer and that the people that don't live their lives right just keep on ticking. In reality both types get cancer and both sides keep living, but it doesn't seem fair. Our next world will be fair! So there is hope. Have a good day.

  4. Scott and I were just talking about this last night! *great minds!* I think you can do everything "right" and there are outside forces (because of the sin in this world) that can cause folks to go down the wrong path.

Bad things happen to good people. We try to wrap our minds around "why?" But there are just some things that can't be explained.

    Someday we will all understand.

  5. I know people who are God fearing and did everything they could to raise good and decent children, but in the end, the children picked their own path. It wasn't the right one either.

We can only do our best and when the time comes, hope and pray they make the right decisions.

  6. It's that whole Free Will thing, man! Seriously though, I think as parents we have to do our best in raising our children up to the Lord and pray and just be the best examples to them we can be. They may still choose to go and be stupid, crazy, and wild (btdt) and if so we pray they'll come to the Lord and walk with him.

Now completely off subject, but go to my blog and pick up an award! :)

  7. Um... and when they are OLD they will not depart from it. Not when they're young and sowing their wild oats. Are you old yet, my friend? Cuz... I'm not! And I know that it's super common for old people to return to the values of their parents and forefathers. You gotta think about what the verse actually says!

Isn't it cool to really meditate on these things?

    loving you!

  8. of course we all pray our kids don't do what we did, but the do anyway and they survive just like we did...they have to so their kids will pay them back for what they did to us...revenge is being a grandma!

  9. it isn't over til the fat lady sings...or the fat man sings....so, even if they appear to depart, you never know how they will end up, they can always return....
